BULL PRODUCTS PROTECTS NEXT PHASE OF UK’S LARGEST POWER STATION

We are delighted to reveal we have been contracted to supply an additional 10 of our Cygnus alarm systems to the next phase of the UK’s largest power station, Hinkley Point.

The nuclear power station in Somerset, worth £18 billion, will involve more than 5,000 site workers at peak periods and the development of two nuclear reactors, which will supply seven per cent of the country’s electricity consumption. It will also provide power for more than six million homes.

Working alongside Balfour Beatty and Laing O’Rourke, Hinkley Point specifically required an alarm system that would have a powerful radio frequency strong enough to work through underground tunnels – our Cygnus Wireless Alarm System was able to meet this need due to its signal strength and connectivity.

To meet customer and market demand, the Cygnus radio system has been undergoing some upgrades and modifications which now include added functionality, improved battery life, better configuration software and a combined smoke and heat detector.

Bradley Markham, director at Bull Products, says: “Our continued involvement during the development of Hinkley Point is testament to the strength and innovation of our Cygnus alarm system. The strong wireless mesh means that the site has a dependable alarm system that works in an environment which isn’t best suited to radio.”
